HUNTING REPORT

CELEBRATING TWENTY SIX YEARS IN THE GUIDE

                                           BUSINESS

                            RANCH at the ROARING FORK

                             FLY FISHING AT IT'S BEST

ALSO A GREAT WINTER SKI VACATION

If you are looking for that summer or winter ski get away with mountain air, fly fishing, shopping, biking, hiking, and some great dining. THIS IS IT ! The ranch is a 30 minute drive from Aspen. We are between Basalt, and Carbondale Colorado. The ranch has a three par. golf course, tennis courts, and numerous golf courses in the valley. For me it's the Fly Fishing. It's all private, only those people living on the property and guest can fish. It's fly fishing only. The Roaring Fork River runs through the property for about 2 miles. Then you have Sopris Creek along with other smaller creeks on the property which adds up to plenty water for everyone to spread out and enjoy this unique private fishing spot. If you get board or need some brushing up on your technique you can book a trip with one of the local fly shops.  They have some great guides and offer both float and walk in fishing on the Frying Pan, Roaring Fork, Colorado, Crystal river and high country lakes and streams.

I can't tell you everything there is to do because it would take up to much space, but I can tell you if you are looking for a great Winter, Spring, Summer, or Fall High Country Get Away this is it.

Give us a call, or e-mail us for more details on how to book a vacation at this unique spot.

NOW FOR THE BIG NEWS ! We are going to move our lodging to a new location which we think you will really enjoy. It is out in the country southwest of Dumas. It's in the wide open spaces. They will have a breakfast, lunch and dinner. The room prices are about the same as they were in Dumas. The guides will be right there at the lodge. If you need to go to Dumas for any reason it's a 14 mile drive to town. You are welcome to bring your own adult beverage. We are going to get a sporting clay field set up. The lodge has different meeting rooms where you can watch the game, play cards, what ever. We will have a gun room-mud room where you can store your gun and clean it, remove your muddy boots and put on your house shoes. It's really a nice place and the people who operate it are great.

Jan. 15, 2012

Last week hunted exceptionally well. There were limits of dark geese taken every day except yesterday. I don't know how it could get any better than that and that was due to NO WIND or CHANGING WIND. There are still tons of geese in the area and time left to go shoot a goose. Give us a shout.

Jan. 22, 2012

GOOSE HUNTING IS STILL OUT STANDING !!

If you missed this goose season you really missed a great one. Still lot's of geese in the Dumas and Etter area and the hunting has been wonderful. In Amarillo there are ton's of geese. They seem to be every where. We think the special snow season might work this year, still a little early to tell but we will see.

I had a small group out today and we did very well. We finished up about 9:30 and started to pickup when the wind hit and let me tell you when they forecast BIG WIND they mean it. It was blowing so hard driving home on the dirt road I could not see the road in front of me. It looked like the dust bowl days we all hear about. I hope that is not an indication of what's in store for us this Spring.

Feb. 6, 2012

We wrapped up the regular season with a quick limit of dark geese Sat. morning and we had a Trophy hunt on Sun morning. We were hunting BIG HONKERS and we got them. In all we had 7 birds that weighed in the 8 to 11 pound range.  It was a great way to put an end to what was one of our better goose season's. For a year when there were a lot of unknown's due to the drought, things worked out just FINE !!

The snow geese seem to be moving out so we have no idea how the special snow goose hunt's will work but I guess we will find out next weekend.

As always we enjoyed seeing our regular client's and a pleasure meeting new one's.
