Hunting Report

CELEBRATING TWENTY FIVE YEARS IN THE GUIDE

                                           BUSINESS

                            RANCH at the ROARING FORK

                             FLY FISHING AT IT'S BEST

ALSO A GREAT WINTER SKI VACATION

If you are looking for that summer or winter ski get away with mountain air, fly fishing, shopping, biking, hiking, and some great dining. THIS IS IT ! The ranch is a 30 minute drive from Aspen. We are between Basalt, and Carbondale Colorado. The ranch has a three par. golf course, tennis courts, and numerous golf courses in the valley. For me it's the Fly Fishing. It's all private, only those people living on the property and guest can fish. It's fly fishing only. The Roaring Fork River runs through the property for about 2 miles. Then you have Sopris Creek along with other smaller creeks on the property which adds up to plenty water for everyone to spread out and enjoy this unique private fishing spot. If you get board or need some brushing up on your technique you can book a trip with one of the local fly shops.  They have some great guides and offer both float and walk in fishing on the Frying Pan, Roaring Fork, Colorado, Crystal river and high country lakes and streams.

I can't tell you everything there is to do because it would take up to much space, but I can tell you if you are looking for a great Winter, Spring, Summer, or Fall High Country Get Away this is it.

Give us a call, or e-mail us for more details on how to book a vacation at this unique spot.

NOW FOR THE BIG NEWS ! We are going to move our lodging to a new location which we think you will really enjoy. It is out in the country southwest of Dumas. It's in the wide open spaces. They will have a breakfast, lunch and dinner. The room prices are about the same as they were in Dumas. The guides will be right there at the lodge. If you need to go to Dumas for any reason it's a 14 mile drive to town. You are welcome to bring your own adult beverage. We are going to get a sporting clay field set up. The lodge has different meeting rooms where you can watch the game, play cards, what ever. We will have a gun room-mud room where you can store your gun and clean it, remove your muddy boots and put on your house shoes. It's really a nice place and the people who operate it are great.

July 10, 2010

The reports are coming in on the duck population and breeding success and it all sounds like great news. The duck hunting should be just as good as last season. The reports about the geese sound like they had a great breeding year as well. According to the reports this will be the third largest hatch of snow geese on record and the Canada's should have done just as well. As for hatch's of pheasant, quail and turkey if they didn't due well it was because conditions were to PERFECT. Ha Ha !!!We have really been blessed with rains that have filled the Playas and provided us with the needed moisture to keep us green. Everything looks wonderful here.

It's shaping up to be another fabulous year here on the GOLDEN SPREAD. So get your group together, set a date and let's go get'em

August 11, 2010

The phone is starting to RING !!! It's time to start making your plans and sending those deposit's in to get the dates you want.

We are going to Ft. Worth for the Texas Trophy Hunters Show August 20,21, 22 so come by our booth and say hello.

Things still look wonderful and green even though it's warmed up a little. As stated in the last report the hunting should be out of this world.

Talon Point went up a little on room's and meals but the prices are still very reasonable and what a great place to stay.

I am going to Austin for the Migratory Game Bird meeting the 18th of August to talk about proposed date and bag limit's for the up coming season. When I get back I will post the proposed dates.

Starting to book some hunt's for next season, so don't mess around, give us a shout and let's get your party booked!!!!

STAY TUNED !!!!
